The scene we have chosen is located at the first minutes of the film, where we meet Miss Lonelyheart, a single middle aged woman that is in the apartment over to Thorwald’s couple Jeff. While Lisa prepares the dinner is watching again his neighbors.
On the scene we appreciate that she is setting the table for two herself and an imaginary date. She pours red wine for two and she cheers with no one, after that she drinks both glasses whilst she weeps. When Jeff realices what’s going on, he raises a glass with her.
Actually we don't know what actually happened because all information we receive comes from the suggestive vision of Jeff's binoculars.
The neighbors are for Hitchcock an excuse to distract the viewer from the main plot, this is called Mcguffin. The real interest is what happens in Thorwald's flat with her wife. All the neighbours have the same role in the movie, they worked as a distraction.
If you have seen the movie, what scene did you enjoy the most?
